Lost Luggage

Not many people would be able to say that they´ve lost luggage twice by the time they´re 28, but I am now officially one of those people. Yesterday afternoon we flew from Krakow to Budapest, Hungary via Vienna. One of our bags didn´t quite make it. Fortunately it didn´t contain anything important, but it´s still pretty unpleasant to find yourself still standing at the luggage carosel when all the other bags have come and everyone else has left....again! I actually wasn´t the only one - there was quite a large group of people at the lost luggage counter. I get the feeling quite a lot of luggage goes missing on it´s way to Budapest! Anyway, to cut a long story short we got to spend most of our day calling, waiting, calling, waiting and then the whole thing ended with me running down the street calling after a man who was carrying my bag over his shoulder but walking in the opposite direction from our apartment! Since he couldn´t speak English he just kept on walking until I caught up. It must of looked quite amusing to the locals. By that time it was 3:30 and eager to see Budapest we headed out.....only to get rained on a few minutes later. Possibly today is not our day!

From what we´ve seen so far Budapest is pretty cool. It´s probably the most run-down of everywhere we´ve been so far this trip, and is the least English-speaking place of anywhere we´ve ever been. But that´s all part of the experience. The lady checking us into our apartment didn´t speak much at all and communicated with us mostly by pointing at things. It was tremendously cute. We´re staying in a big private apartment which the owners rent out, and we´re in a great location just a street back from the river. We´re looking forward to heading out after dark and seeing the cool buildings next to the river all lit up.
