Africa - Day 1
Today was the start of our African adventure. In the morning Becky & Andrew drove us to the airport. They stayed with us in February and after travelling around NZ they have arrived back in Auckland to house-sit for us while we're away. It was very nice not to have to take Jessie to the cattery again.
Our flight departed at 3:30pm, bound for Bangkok. I was not at all looking forward to the 12 hour flight, but it actually went very well. We flew Thai, which is a new airline for us, and we give them two thumbs up. We were on one of their new planes and found the leg-room, and the inflight entertainment system to be way up there with the best we've ever experienced. With many movies to keep us occupied the 12 hours went quite fast and before we knew it we were in Bangkok.
The new airport in Bangkok does not quite get two thumbs up from us however. It's huge, and we had to spend at least 30 minutes walking to the gate for our next flight. From our new gate we got on a bus and were driven 10 minutes to our plane, which we realised was parked pretty much directly next to the one we had just got off! At least we got some exercise I suppose!
